Originally the chapter was known as the Birmingham Electrical Contractors Association.  In the mid 80ís the BECA joined the Independent Electrical Contractors national association.  The chapter covers the central section of the State of Alabama.  The chapter has been in existence for over 25 years and its members are non union or Merit Shop contractors.

The chapter holds lunch meetings on a monthly basis.  For the year 2012 the meetings are being held on the 2nd Tuesday of each month.  Guests are encouraged to attend.  Please notify the IEC office if you would like to attend a meeting.

The mission of IEC is to provide Registered Apprenticeship training for electrical contractors in central Alabama.  IEC provides a networking opportunity for area contractors in central Alabama.

The chapter office/ training center is located at 6700 Oporto Madrid Blvd. South, Birmingham, AL 35206.  We share this facility with the Construction Education Foundation of Alabama.
